After leaving EcstaSea in Ft. Lauderdale to be sold, we took a few days down in Key West to unwind. Then we flew to Puerto Rico to visit our friend Alberto, and from there to Charleston to see our family. After a few days back home in Tucson, we flew to California for a Life Celebration for a dear friend. And finally home to rest by the end of February. We were pretty fatigued from all of the travel and kept saying we wanted to stay home long enough to get bored! Well....be careful what you wish for!!!
All anyone has to say is 2020 and we all know what that means...The Pandemic and quarantine, or lockdown, or sheltering in or....whatever you want to call it!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And here we are 8 months later and still wondering and questioning this dilemma. At least we have the presidential race (with all of its stress) behind us now. And we are convinced that instead of a whiny little bitch, we actually have a president who can and will lead us forward. For that we are thankful and hopeful. Yes, it's been a tough year for not only us, but for the whole world. And it's not over yet...
So if you are wondering if we are bored??? Hell YES is the answer! This year is the longest that we have not traveled anywhere, let alone to the boat for the summer. And we are very thankful that EcstaSea crossed the Big Blue to Florida before the pandemic, as we couldn't have gone to her anyway. So here we sat in our beautiful desert home during the hottest summer on record. Aaahhh, really no complaints as we are happy and healthy...just bored like the rest of the world.
Most of you know that we celebrate the full moon every month, and we have not missed one since we got together in 2006. And in October, full moon fell on Halloween with Day of the Dead right after. So we decided it truly was a time to remember and honor all of those who have passed. We lit a fire by the pool under the full moon and let the smoke carry away the sorrow and loss, the disappointment and discouragement, (and even the boredom) away. It's a time of death and rebirth and we let it all go with the smoke into the Light of Mother Moon. It was a powerful ritual and brought us much peace.
We also used this ritual to release EcstaSea, as she has found her new owners. Yes, Esea has found a new home with a couple who will love her as we have. It is bittersweet for sure and many tears have been shed. But it is time to let her go, and we are so grateful that Michael and Andrea are her new owners!
Words are inadequate, but we want to try and share what the last 13 years with EcstaSea has meant to us. EcstaSea was our sacred sanctuary where we truly grew and evolved over the years together and individually. Our solitary togetherness was nurtured aboard for months on end with refuge from the rest of the world. Where else could we be so alone to dig deep in our knowing of ourselves and one another? Where else could we learn to trust and put our very lives into the others keeping, totally relying on each other no matter what? Where else could we get outside of our comfort zone and learn to expand beyond it? Where else could we really, really learn the meaning of "be here now"? Where else but on the ever changing sea could we remember and embrace the transient nature of life?
So it is not just a boat that we are letting go of, it is the lifestyle and experiences that we will miss. The skinny dipping in crystal clear waters, the freedom of moving from one gorgeous cove to another, the oneness with Yemaya (the ocean) and all of Mother Nature, the complete peace and silence of sailing the open seas with nothing but stars above and sparkling plankton all around to where you can't distinguish up from down, the perfect tranquility of the setting sun at the same time as the moon rises full out of the water, the different cultures and countries, castles and cathedrals, and the amazing friends we have made from all over the world. So yes, it is bittersweet and it is time...
There could never have been a better platform to grow our love and life together than EcstaSea. She truly was our dream come true and we are forever thankful!!! We are who we are today because of her and she has left us with a life and love deeper than we could've ever imagined. She has left us with the life skills to continue on to whatever new adventures come our way. Our life aboard EcstaSea was magical, and YES, we are looking forward with anticipation for more magic... we know it is even now coming our way!!!!
